The Third Annual GameHERs Awards were announced today and Generation Esports is proud to be a sponsor! Since the debut of the awards show in 2020, the nominations and voting submissions continue to grow. In 2021, over 5,000 women were recognized for their excellence through nominations submitted across categories of esports, game development, content creation, charity, marketing, and rising stars, as well as at the collegiate level. Across that total number of nominees, there were over 150,000 votes to determine the 38 winners.
This year, they've expanded their collegiate category and Generation Esports is honored to be sponsoring the Top Educator Award! Our roots in esports began in the scholastic world and we will always be a part of that space. The award honors a woman or femme identifying leader who works in the collegiate space, advancing diversity and inclusion in collegiate esports. This individual may be a coach, mentor, teacher, or advisor to an esports team.
Nominations for 2022 are open to the public on the*gameHERs website. The winners will be announced and celebrated during the live broadcast on the*gameHERs Twitch in November 2022. A new addition to the awards this year will be a series of in-person celebrations throughout the US. Full details on each party will be announced later this year.
Over the past year, the*gameHERs community has continued to thrive and offer over 500,000 women all over the world a safe space to connect and to participate in professional development bootcamps, charity gaming streams, collegiate esports tournaments, collegiate chapter launches, and several live and virtual events. “Supporting women in gaming and esports has always been at the forefront of our organization and the ability to highlight and recognize the top talent in the industry through the*gameHERs Awards is something that our entire organization is excited about!” exclaimed Rebecca Dixon, Co-Founder and CEO of the*gameHERs.
